PROGRAMS
These vary monthly, with no two lodges having the exact same program. The basic offerings are all Nordic based and can be generally classified into one of the following areas (topics vary within each):

Members from different lodges join with others to celebrate special events at other lodges. Here, Embla's Carol Kemp, Solvieg Judy Earle & Prillar Guri's Tove Van Der Mass celebrate the installation of Solveig Lodge officers
Meetings are held at least 9 months of every year. Each meeting is broken into three parts: social, business, and program. The time for each part and the order in which this occurs varies by lodge.
The popular social get-together allows members to mingle and strengthen their friendships while enjoying and exploring tasty Scandinavian treats.
Business meetings direct the lodge's finances, plans and functioning in addition to providing time for singing, jokes, sharing of personal information and Nordic information, stories, jokes, events, etc. Officers for lodges are elected yearly.

Some lodges use their programs as a stepping-stone to create interest in a subject. Members interested in pursuing the subject more usually form smaller interest groups that delve more thoroughly into the subject. These groups involve hands-on learning and exploration. Examples:
Lodges work in their communities and in the Nordic community both here and abroad. Many hold fundraisers to support local charities and the Grand Lodge or their own scholarship funds. Some lodges focus their efforts on supporting US troops around the world with letters and care packages. If you go to an individual lodge, you can see the many ways they do community outreach programs.
Daughters of Norway supports a worthwhile Norwegian organization called TUBFRIM. Members collect stamps and telephone cards for TUBFRIM and the sales thereof is used to eradicate tuberculosis and help handicap children in Norway. Additional details...
Each lodge has it's own web page which can be accessed by either going to the lodge Alphabetical Listing page or the State Listing page. From there, you can click on the lodge you want to find out exciting details on their activities. Some of these pages, will include activity calendars, lodge photos, and connections to the lodges' individual website. All lodges have details on meeting times and places plus lodge contact information.
If you do not get a response when trying to contact a lodge, contact the webmaster for follow-up (please state the lodge your are trying to reach and the message you want them to respond to — it's best to give the message (RE:) title as DN — lodge name — need help reaching ).
Members have the opportunity to keep in touch no matter where they live with our special online group. It's a great way to keep in touch with what other lodges are doing, headlines in Norway, special events and calendar events, etc. Questions are raised concerning anything you might need to know to do a craft, cook something, or where to get help making a bunad. It's available to all members by contacting Roberta or joining the Face book Daughters of Norway group.
