Preserving our Norwegian heritage... SONJA HENIE LODGE #29 |
|
LODGE HIGHLIGHTS Meetings incorporate the practice of the Norwegian language; hands-on activities such as rosmaling and Hardanger embroidery; and Norwegian history, culture and common songs such as Hurra for Deg (the Norwegian Happy Birthday song). Fun-loving women of all ages welcome to join like-minded women of Nordic decent!
Some of the many local Norwegian and cultural events that Sonja Henie Lodge participates in include: Multi Cultural Day at Truckee Meadows Community College, Night of All Nations hosted by University Nevada-Reno, and Snowshoe Thompson Day in Genoa, Nevada. In addition to these events, the lodge hosts an annual Norwegian Smorgasbord each Spring for the public. Please return to this website in the future for updates on this fun-filled event. The lodge is a non-profit organization that looks forward to donating to local charities. To date, the Adopt-a-Family, Family Resource Center and Hosanna Home have benefited from these donations.
