Aase Lodge #33 Lafayette, California Preserving our Norwegian heritage... |
Aase Lodge #33 was founded on February 22, 1987 in Concord, California. The lodge was named for a very famous Viking woman. Queen Aase came to Norway from the royal Yngling family of Sweden. Her son founded the Norwegian Royal dynasty, and later her great-grandson, King Harald Fairhair unified Norway. Queen Aase was buried in her ship, which was later discovered during an archeological dig near the Oslo fjord. The Oseberg ship can be seen in the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo.
The lodge meets the second Wednesday of most months at 10:00 AM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at 1035 Carol Lane in Lafayette, California. For additional information about programs, contact the lodge.
